Auschwitz Transit

I am alive and well. Have a lovely room in Oświęcim, Poland. The town is the location of the infamous Auschwitz Concentration Camp. And Auschwitz II, the horrific Auschwitz-Birkenau Death Camp. Being here has been a major goal for the trip. It took a bit maneuvering to get here. And to get out. So, I am posting this quick note with a link to the photos (about 600 total) of the camps. This link will take you to my Flickr albums. The two camps are the most recent albums.

I am reading far more news from the United States than I anticipated. The meltdown of the Trump campaign, with it’s extremely loyal core, and Trump’s scorched earth attitude is frightening. Being in Berlin, and now here, where a Nazi death factory was created as a mechanism of the Final Solution, brings home the great danger America faces today. I do not say that lightly. Auschwitz was the result of many small steps. Rhetoric detached from reason. Appeals to violence as a political means. Targeting of scapegoats to create simple frameworks to avoid dealing with complex problems. This is present in our time. In America.

I have a bus to catch. So, have to run. Heading for overnight in Krakow, before flying to Prague. Will post again soon.
